Next Week's Events

Next week there will be some fun and exciting events in our classroom. Tuesday is Valentine's Day. The morning will be spent doing friendship related activities and stations. In the afternoon, all students will be participating in Winter Carnival activities. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately, as many of the activities will take place outdoors. Snowpants are necessary! If your child has an extra set of mittens/gloves, it might be a good idea to send them in case the first set gets wet.

Next Thursday (Feb. 16th) is our 100th Day of School! Wow! We will be having stations to celebrate and we will also have a special surprise! :) If you would like to contribute to our special surprise, I would greatly appreciate it. We are looking for the following things:
- Smarties
- Small Marshmallows
- Goldfish crackers (or similar small crackers)
- Chocolate chips
- Pretzels
- Raisins
- Any other small edible item
We will be putting these items on a 100 chart (grid), so they need to be quite small. If you are able to donate any of these items (or something of your choice), please let me know in advance (so that I know what to buy). You can write me an e-mail to let me know (caroberts@edu.pe.ca) or you can send a note to school with your child. We would need them all for Thursday, Feb. 16th. Thanks!

Candy Grams are being sold tomorrrow (Fri) and Monday for $1. All proceeds will go to the Upper Room. Children can choose who they want to send their Candy Gram to and it will be delivered on Valentine's Day. They can also be bought for friends/family members who aren't at school. The Candy Grams are laminated bookmarks with a treat or laminated hearts with a candy bracelet.

We have been discussing bullying in Health class. One of our favourite songs/books about bullying is "Don't Laugh at Me". It teaches a very important lesson. I found a YouTube video of it and I highly recommend that you watch it with your child and take a few minutes to discuss it. Bullying is a serious issue and we're doing everything we can to teach children at a young age that "words can hurt". Here is the video: Don't Laugh at Me

Have a great weekend! :)
